Slack Integration - Memo Create Task - Auto Assign to Project

:light_bulb: How can I auto assign a new task created in Slack using the :memo: icon to a specific project? We are using Slack/ASANA for our support/help desk and I want all new tasks to go to that project. Currently it is not assigned to a project and will be easily lost of if people don’t use ‘My Tasks’. Right now we are working almost exclusively out of our support project so the task will easily be missed. I don’t want to have to set up a personal rule for each person to assign all new tasks to the support project.

Hi @Jeanine_Scott2! Welcome to the community!:star_struck:

Totally understand the use case. At the moment, tasks created from Slack using the :memo: memo icon don’t automatically get added to a specific project, and there isn’t an organization-wide setting to define a default project.

A few workarounds that may help:

  • Use an Asana Form for your support project and pin the form link in the Slack channel. This ensures every request lands in the correct project and lets you collect required information upfront.

  • Use the project’s email address to create tasks directly in the support project. This can work well if your team is already using a dedicated support channel. Import>>Email to get the project’s unique email address

  • Use /asana create instead of the memo icon. Users can select the support project during task creation, which helps keep everything in one place.

I agree that an option to automatically route tasks created from Slack into a designated project would be valuable for support/help desk workflows. I’d encourage you to submit or upvote this in Product Feedback so the team can track interest.
