Share "My task" with collaborators

Hi, I’m pretty new at Asana so not sure if this is a newbie questions…

I’ve created a bunch of tasks in the My task section - but the collaborators I’ve added cannot see the task cards and the way I’ve arranged the kanban board - does the task pop up for my collaborators only if they are one of the assignee? Would they also be able to access my board, or at least share the same categorization?

Thanks

Sharing your My Tasks view only shares the structure (default view, filters, sorts) it doesn’t share tasks specifically. They have to be collaborators on tasks or project/team members to see those tasks. My guess is that your tasks aren’t part of any project when they should (it is a best practice).

Does it help?

Welcome, @Andy_Pang,

You wrote that you added others as collaborators of tasks in your My Tasks. That gives them access to those tasks, but really only if they search for them.

You could also click the Share button at the top of your My Tasks and share your My Tasks views (like your My Tasks Board view) with the people you specify in that dialog. They will see your My Tasks structure and the tasks they are able to access, like if you added those same folks as task collaborators. They will also see tasks in projects you’re all members of because that’s another common way to make sure others can see tasks collaboratively.

If it’s hard to follow you may want to review in help.asana.com.

Thanks,

Larry

Just to add, you could search for the tasks but you can also search for the actual person by typing their name in the search box at the top of your screen. As the results appear as you type, click on their profile in the search results to take you to their profile page. There, you will see their My Tasks that you also have access to.

Thanks, Richard, for adding that they can search for the tasks by task name or assignee name.
