Set up recurring task without duplicating collaborators

Is it possible to set up a recurring task that does not duplicate the collaborators?

We use a recurring task for people to sign up for certain time slots for Office Hours. Whoever needs that time slot assigns it to their Lead, once the Office Hours are complete the Lead marks it complete and the task duplicates for the same day of the week and time of day for the following week. However, it includes whoever needed that time slot previously as a collaborator.
