It looks like Flowsana is another external service one needs to pay for?
As a small agency, by the time we have added all these services up, it really starts becoming very expensive. I don’t mind looking at Flowsana later when we are making a lot of money.
If we can have the project name injected into that div, that would be the simplest way.
I looked at the html code too and it looks like the name of the project appears on hover using Javascript, so there must be a way for the Asana devs to add the name in that div for us so that we can create a Chrome Extension and make it visible.
Phil, This is my first day using Asana. I am truly dismayed that tasks don’t have the project name shown right in the task, no matter which view you are using. I can’t believe that something this basic is not possible. My office manager has spent weeks setting up all our projects. As the owner of the company it just floors me that this is not included. I can’t use this program if I can’t find a way to see the project name WITH THE TASK NAME!! Please tell me how to make this happen NOW. Otherwise I’m going back to Trello. I cannot use Asana if I can’t look a a task in any view and KNOW what project it’s for!!! Can we just somehow add the project name to the name of the task when the task is assigned? It’s beyond me how anybody can use Asana without seeing WHICH PROJECT a task is for!!! Please help!!!
I just found another thread where people are asking for project name to appear with task on calendar…from 2017!!! Is this thing ever going to be accomplished? It boggles my mind how anybody is using this program successfully without having this feature. What is the problem with getting it added. 3 years is more than enough time.
I just started using Asana today and I found a workaround. You just add the project name manually when you’re assigned a task (Project name: Task description). It’s tedious to have to do this with every one of your tasks, but it works. Now I can view my tasks with project name in any view (list, board, calendar, etc.) People have been asking for this ever since 2017 on another thread. Since I have little hope that the developers will ever take care of this, I’m resigned to manually add the project to every task I get. It’s annoying, but much less annoying than trying to figure out the project name by clicking on the colored bar icon or memorizing the color for each project. It is utterly amazing that it wasn’t designed with this feature from the start. Maybe they’ll fix it soon, but don’t hold your breath.
Is there a way to view the project name on the board view for a task?
Currently it just shows the project color and you need to hover/click the task to see the name of the project.
Would be great to be able to see the project name on the board view so we don’t have to remember what color represents each project.
You’re correct, as it stands, if a task in a Board Project belongs to multiple projects, it is difficult to identify these other projects; the only way you can check them out is by opening the task itself; I can’t think of other ways around, unfortunately. I’m moving your post to the #productfeedback category to allow you and other users to vote for this feature to be implemented.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!
I agree that this would be really helpful in the board view @iknowbryan. What we do now as a workaround is try to remember to add the project name to each task but this isn’t ideal.
It would seem we “used to” have this functionality?
In looking into exactly this issue, I found a screenshot of a board project that show’s the board cards with Project (?) and Tag (?) names displayed; rather than just the colour.
We too are now in the position of adding the project name to every task which is FAR from ideal. Sadly, this functionality IS available in LIST view.
I’m here to throw in my vote for this. We have a single board that collects tasks from other projects so we can easily see them all in one place (thanks to the newer Rules feature). However, not being able to see the Project name in the board view is making it difficult to know which project the task is related to at a glance. (Mousing over the pill is not a solution to this issue.)
Please display the Project name in the pill itself, not just when mousing over it.
I’m putting my vote in for this one. Option to add project name to the board view. I personally have a lot of similarly named tasks, and it would be nice to be able to quickly differentiate between them at a glance, without renaming!
Currently in the process of switching my company over to Asana. This would be a very helpful feature. Our use case is that the view into projects that our Designers need is different than our Project Manager. Our PM needs to plan out every project step by step with dates, but list views sometimes overwhelm or slow down our Designers workflow. So we’re creating a “Design Queue” which is essentially a KanBan style board that allows our Designers to be able to focus in on their designs with only the key dates they need as subtasks. The fact that Asana can do this is amazing and a big reason why we’re switching from Monday.com.
However, this queue will be filled with design needs from many different projects and clients. Having a toggle to simply display which project a card is associated with would be a big help. For now, our PM will just include that in the name of the “item” or card, but it would be much cleaner if we could just have it auto display without having to format the name manually.
You have my vote on this one two! Been looking for an app with the board view for months and then when I switched to Asana and I realised that the name of the projects won’t appear on the box… Would be very helpful for me and my team to have the project’s name on the board view!
Thank you!
We do a lot of projects with the same repetitive tasks that we have built out in templates. The only way I have found to get the project name on the board card is to add it to each task name, this is too time consuming when I should be able to pick the template and just have the project create itself. Thankfully we can use some of the other views as I think the lack of this functionality makes the board view overly onerous for us to use.
