Search all text within project

Search function to search anything thing within the project. Can’t search all text.

Hi @Kate_Hendrix , are you aware of the search task names bar (:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: icon) in the top right area of each project? That will fuzzy search task names in a project.

For anything else, you need to use Advanced search which you can also get to from that search bar when you click on the ... on the right of it.

That will search for keywords within task descriptions and comments.

@Richard_Sather correct, but that is for tasks only and in advance search it’s only for descriptions and comments.

If there is a text column, it doesn’t search for anything within a text column. For example, I have a column with a bunch of vehicle VINs listed. I want to do a search for a VIN that has 2718 in it. There is no way to do so at the moment. I can’t filter or search text columns.

@Kate_Hendrix once you get onto your advanced search screen, if you add a filter at the bottom, you should be able to collect your VIN custom field. The caveat here is that the custom field needs to be a global field that’s part of your organizational library. It can’t be just a local field to that project.

If it is a local field to that project, then your other option is to use the broader text search function (CTRL+F for Windows or CMD+F for Mac). This will search all fields and all information that’s on the screen.

@Ron_Sanga adding apart of the library worked. Thank you. ctrl+f doesn’t work for the desktop version.

It would be nice to just be able to use the search function for everything instead of just the task name though.
