Rules Grayed out, unable to use canned rulesc

I am trying to create rules for a project. All of a sudden I am no longer able to edit rules. The canned rules are grayed out, I can’t edit, Publish, or save. This happened after Asana pushed an update possibly.

The Custom rules work normally.

mine is also doing this but i can publish them and then it will let me edit it

oh no! I was able to publish and then edit yesterday. now i can’t do anything other than custom rules.

Sorry to hear about the problem.

Can I ask you to run some quick checks:

  1. Permissions: in the project, click Share and confirm your role is Editor or Admin. Commenters and Viewers will see rules options grayed out.

  2. Project source: is this project created from a locked template managed by your admin or PMO? Some templates restrict editing rules.

  3. Scope: does this happen in all projects or only this one?

Troubleshooting to try:

  1. Hard refresh and try an incognito window with extensions off

  2. Try another browser or a quick cache clear

  3. If your network has strict security tools, test on a different network or mobile hotspot

If this started right after an update and persists across projects with the right permissions, it might be a bug. Please let us know your findings after trying the above steps.

@Joanna_Czarnobilska I can confirm the same behavior across all of my projects currently.

  • in multiple projects (probably all but i cant check all of them)
  • also happening in incognito
  • im the asana admin as well as the company IT admin so can confirm that its not a network restriction

I am having the same issues listed above.

I have just come back to Asana after almost a year. I am the only person in the company, I am a super admin, were paid Premium.

I can add one of the canned rules, but I cannot modify any of it. Some I can publish, but I cannot edit. Everything is grayed out.

I’m the project owner. Again, I am the only one in the company.

What am I missing?

Hi @Chris_Tomlinson , I merged your post with an earlier one about the same topic. It appears to be a recent bug, which is currently under investigation. I will return with updates as soon as possible.

I am still having this same issue.

Still same issue here as well.

I’m having the same issue across multiple projects: I open one of the recommended routing rules and I can’t edit anythiong, or publish it.

Hello, I’m still having the same issue

This is also happening to me. It won’t save but I get a discard changes warning when I try to exit out of the rule.

This has been recognised as linked to a larger change that we are working on implementing shortly. I have no confirmed timeline, but I can assure you that the matter is being continuously looked into and worked on.

A fix has been implemented, so everyone should see the results now. If you are in the desktop app and still having issues a hard refresh or shutting the app down and restarting should help!
