I realize that I may be starting a revolution…please forgive me. I would love the potential to check for subtasks, unlink the subtask, and potentially add the now independent task to a different project…any hope?
Hi @Rachel_Botts , interesting revolution!
Could you elaborate by describing a particular use case?
I understand the use case and I wish it was possible. You currently can’t say “I don’t want this subtask to be a subtask anymore”…
Note: Not a solution but marked as such to elevate a key reply
You can add the subtask to a project thereby making it a top-level task, so that’s part of the request.
For the other part, the best you can do is add a comment or another assigned subtask reminding someone to manually carry out that part of the work.
Thanks,
Larry
Sorry for the delay
So keep in mind that we started with Asana years ago and dependencies weren’t a thing yet….(don’t judge me )
This is an example of tasks in a project called “Client List”
The subtasks to these Clients, do not live in this project, they live in 15 other projects that represent different processes we are working/have worked on for the client and some of the subtasks have subtasks.
So yes, I could drag the subtask to the main list in the project, essentially unlinking it, but there are more than 400 clients and many, many more subtasks from our early work. So now that we are doing things far more efficiently, I want to clean up the landscape by unlinking them with a rule instead of by hand.
Ah interesting use case, @Rachel_Botts - thank you for elaborating!
