Recurring Yearly Subtasks - To be created in a different section

In this example…
Project = New Year Setup
Section = New Year Tasks
Task = 25-26 New Year Tasks
Subtasks =
Create the Grading Calendar - due 5/1
Set up the Attendance screens - due 6/28
Update the training documents - due 7/25

I would like to set the subtasks to repeat every year but when I mark this year’s subtask complete it automatically creates a new subtask for next year but it lands in the same task which is meant for 25-26 school year. I would like to create a new task called 26-27 New Year Tasks and have the auto created subtasks land there rather than landing in the 25-26 task. Is there a rule I can set up to tell the newly auto created task to land in a different task or even land in a different section?

@Kenna_Kirk,

Although the exact solution depends on your specific needs, I think you’ll find it easier to:

  1. Use independent top-level tasks instead of what you have now as subtasks, or
  2. Continue to treat the yearly set of tasks as a unit of top-level task with subtasks, but don’t make the subtasks recurring.

You could use a rule, perhaps a manually-triggered one, to add either, at year end.

You could possibly also use a task template annually.

Or you could make the parent task recurring.

These are all different approaching depending on your needs, but I think all would be easier than what you have now.

Thanks,

Larry
