Hello. I regularly use subtasks with parent tasks. I just set up recurring parent tasks and when I mark them as complete, I found that all the subtasks are then uncompleted with their original due date and assignee.
How can I set up recurring tasks that make it to where the subtasks either have no due date or a due date that repeats on the same cadence as the parent task?
You might have to create it through rules. When a task is created, you create a new one. And when a new task is created, you add subtasks. Do you see what I mean?

I encountered a similar problem. But developing a rule for it is more difficult than it should be because it seems Asana wonât apply the âWhen Task Status is Changed to Completeâ to subtasks. The workaround involves adding the subtasks back into the same project (even though theyâre already there, of course). From the action menu on the subtask details pane, select âAdd to Projectâ and select the project itâs already in. This will cause the subtask to appear as a separate task in the main list view, but when youâre selecting the project to add it to, you can direct it to a separate section (labeled âHideâ for instance). That also helps avoid erroneously triggering the subtask due date update rule on other tasks in the project.
You set up the rule to trigger when Task status is changed to complete, Check if section is âHideâ, and then set due date to a relative date that mirrors the frequency of the recurring due date (e.g. 7 days after due date of the trigger task). Of course this will update the due date of the subtask you just marked complete, but it will then carry the updated subtask due date into the next iteration of the recurring parent task.
