Re-enable simple drag&drop for Outlook attachments to Asana task

I used to drag & drop attachments from an Outlook email directly from the email to an Asana task. With new Outlook (version 1.2026.407.100), this is obviously not possible any more. An attachment has to be saved first before it can be added to an Asana task. Drag&drop seems not to work any more.

Hi @sabine.kupper , to be fair, I think this is an issue on Outlook’s end since the new desktop version is essentially a web wrapper. That is one of many reasons I have stuck with the legacy Outlook desktop app

I wouldn’t hold my breath for Asana to do something about it. Just my two cents.

Hello!

In the new Outlook client (version 1.2026.407.100), drag‑and‑drop of attachments directly into other apps like Asana has been disabled. Instead, attachments now need to be saved locally before they can be added to tasks. This change is part of the redesigned Outlook experience, and many users have reported similar limitations. The best workaround for now is to save the file first, then upload it to Asana, or use cloud integration (OneDrive/SharePoint links) if supported. Microsoft hasn’t yet re‑enabled direct drag‑and‑drop in the new Outlook, so keeping an eye on release notes or providing feedback through Outlook’s “Help → Feedback” option is the most effective way to push for its return.
