This notice was new to me until very recently:
Each team’s Messages tab offers a unique email address you can use to send or forward emails to turn them into team messages.
As shown in the screenshot, you can also email to your own My Tasks, and (not shown) every project’s action menu > Import > Email offers a unique email to create tasks in a project.
