Our organization would like to have our own templates available for Notes. Biggest desire is a Project Charter - has anyone found a solution for doing a Project Charter within Asana?
Hello @Kari_Ankeney. Here are some workarounds that you can consider:
-
Creating a project template with a ready‑to‑use “Project Charter” item: add a pinned task called “Project Charter” with your outline in the task description, plus subtasks like Scope, Success metrics, Risks, Stakeholders. When someone creates a project from that template, the charter is already there to fill in.
-
Creating a task template for ad‑hoc use: create a “Project Charter” task template in your library so anyone can add it to any project and fill it out.
-
Building a form to capture charter details: build a form with the key questions and use a rule to create or update a “Project Charter” task with the responses. Keeps things consistent and fast.
-
If your team uses Project Overview/Brief: store the charter outline there in your project template so it copies over with each new project.
We hope these help. You can also check out Asana-made templates here, and maybe there is one that resembles the “Project Charter” that you need. Thank you very much. ![]()
We had a similar scenario. Our CSR’s reco was to use a task template to add a link to an existing Project Charter template document, along with instructions for completing the charter, saving it and attaching it to a specific Project Charter task.
