Numeric Custom Field for Progress in Portfolios

Currently, we have the option to see % of project completed in portfolio view. You can choose either tasks or milestones as the progress type. Can we get the ability to choose a custom number form as progress type? We use points to track our projects rather than tasks, and it would be useful to see % of points completed for the project, rather than % tasks completed.

Thanks!
Katie

Hi @Katie_Gates, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!

I’ve gone ahead and updated the title slightly to better reflect your request and make it more discoverable for others users - I hope you don’t mind!

Hopefully this is something we can see brought to life in the future! I’ll keep you posted and let you know if I have any updates

Hi @Rebecca_McGrath,

I’m in the exact same situation than @Katie_Gates.

Has the Asana team been able to work out a solution for this?

Does Asana let you create progress bars as custom fields? I know the completion of tasks is a progress bar by default, but I want to have the option to turn other metrics into progress bars in the portfolio view.

Welcome, @Steven_Campos,

There’s one other alternative built-in column available in portfolios instead of Task Progress and that’s Milestones. It’s not exactly a “progress bar” but it shows progress but presenting a diamond icon for every milestone in the project, depicted in green (complete), grey (incomplete), or red (overdue).

More generally, my Forum Leader Tip:

offers a way to create a progress meter custom field for use in portfolios (or projects), but the catch is that you have to update it manually or by a rule; it’s not automatic like the above two.

Thanks,

Larry
