New Inbox Design - Task Focus rather than Individual Focus

I have been working with the new inbox layout for a while now.

When it first launched I thought, that looks a bit more neat. Then I started to get irritated that from a brief look, I am unable to tell what I am looking at.

THe new design puts the team member first, then the task it is associated with. And it were a project, I will have to click before I can see the ‘inbox’ details.

The more I use it, the more I get frustrated by it.

I do not want the previous UI to be restored. I actually like the neatness of this interface. But perhaps some minor changes:

  1. Let the first column in the inbox be the task the notification is associated with, not the individual
  2. If several notifications are associated with one project, I would like to see that as a given not collapsed. Removed the additional clicks
  3. When a notification is someone commented on a task, I now need to click open the task, scroll all the way to the bottom to read the comment. Previously I was able to see the comment and the decide there and then what I need to do. This is a bit more cumbersome
  4. I am still sitting on the fence with this one: the archive / like / bookmark buttons are hidden and require me to hover around each notification in my inbox. I am not sure if I am ok with it or if I prefer them to always be there

What I do like is the way user interface of the middle column of the inbox showing me the task / project colour / task type / approval whatever the actual notification is about. I think this is very slick

I am happy to add more points - interested in your thoughts? Have you experienced the new inbox layout. What would you keep, and what would you change?
