Multiple tabs in Desktop app

Yes, this is crucial. I downloaded the desktop version and then stopped using it because of this.

Hello! I was curious if there is a possibility to have tabs open within the Asana desktop app? I’m working on a Windows device, and would love to have more than one task open in different tabs, instead of different windows.

Thanks so much! :grinning:

This is not a capability of Asana at this time. I do see the use in it though! Make sure to vote yourself also

Hello @Taren_Tooten This is a duplicate thread. You can upvote the feature you requested here: https://forum.asana.com/t/multiple-tabs-in-desktop-app/121071

And try use Search bar in the future :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We have a few users on Asana but are exploring a much wider rollout. From an enterprise standpoint we need to be able to enforce use of the desktop app while also balancing user needs; tabs for example.

Due to this limitation we have dozens of users on a competing platform. I would appreciate feedback on whether this is in the works or just appeasing the users by “collecting feedback”.

We love Asana and would be disappointed to have to shift over such a seemingly minor feature.

Thanks!

It would be helpful to have tabs functionality at the top of the window like a browser to easily switch between tasks, projects, etc. I often bounce between conversations and tasks between multiple projects. Instead of having to search/navigate, the ability to open tabs would save a lot of time.

fyi in the desktop app, you can go back to the last few visited items.

Also, @anon13646632 there’s already a Product Feedback thread for this request - you should add your vote there:

Hi my role is to manage and assign tasks to each of the members in my team everyday. However, I cannot find an easier way to block everyone’s date on a Holiday or company special event. Currently I need to manually assign an 8-hour-weightage task to everyone in my team in a General Board, and need to manually mark them as completed after the holiday ended. Imagine I have around 20 members in the team and at least 12 holidays in a year.

Hi Phil, that thread you linked to doesn’t seem to exist anymore. And this current thread doesn’t have any votes on it. Any idea what happened?

Hi all.
Why so few Votes ? I am sure I voted for this previously and the count was 0 until I voted again.

I smell a conspiracy theory

Hi @Rebecca_McGrath, the last two comments make a good point. I know this topic has had many more votes previously. Curious to know what happened. Thank you!

Hi folks  Unfortunately there was an error where the previous Multiple tabs in Desktop app thread was merged incorrectly into another thread. You’re right, there were plenty more votes before this error. In fact, there were 103 votes as this is a popular request!

Not to worry, though! Those previous votes will be included and taken into consideration by our Product team when doing research on implementing new features.

Ahh good to know! Thanks for taking the time to provide that context!

Like others I have used Chrome tabs to see many Asana views quickly. Having multiple windows doesn’t resolve this. PLLLLLEEEEASE add tabs so I can use native app on my mac! Thank you

Hi Emily - was this question ever resolved from the desktop launch feedback? I am still trying to figure out how to open projects in multiple windows, so I can toggle back and forth between them. Thanks!

Hi Brian - I use the Desktop App (Windows) and also am super frustrated by not being able to open multiple project or view multiple projects at the same time. Do you know how I can switch to using Asana in browser instead? Any time I paste a project url link in browser it just redirects back to the app to open :frowning:

Colette you may want to check settings within your account. In Settings click on Apps. There is toggle to open links in Desktop app. Turn it off and see if that fixes it. Thx
