Moving From Business To Advance Plan

BEWARE OF MOVING FROM BUSINESS TO ADVANCE PLAN!!!

Asana is promoting the use of its Asana Intelligence. However, I had to change my plan from Business to Advance. All on screen windows said that the plans were the same and no additional costs would be incurred. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. The Advance plan has a portfolio limitation of 100 where as Business had unlimited. This is a big impact on my implementation of Asana at work. When I contacted customer service, I got basically zero help and told to deal with it. Also told that eventually all Business Plan users will be forced to Advance Plan with its limitations.

I’d also like to clarify that the recent changes to our plans, including the introduction of Advanced, are part of a broader transition. The soft launch of these new plans is temporary, and eventually, all accounts will be moved to the new plan structures. This means that all users currently on the legacy Business plan will transition to one of the new plans over time.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or clarification, and I will do my best to address them as quickly as I can.

Kindest regards,

Asana Support

Hi Eric,

I appreciate the time you’ve taken to explain the impact this situation has had on your team at XXX.

If having unlimited portfolios is essential for your workflow, upgrading to the Enterprise plan would be the only way to access unlimited portfolio usage. I completely understand that you’re not looking to increase your costs beyond what you are currently paying, and I want to offer an alternative workaround to help you manage your portfolio needs.

As a workaround, you can delete old or unused portfolios to free up space for new ones. This option might help you work within the limits of the Advanced plan while continuing to manage your projects effectively.

Please let me know if you’d like more details about upgrading to Enterprise or assistance with managing your current portfolios. I’m here to help find the best solution for you and your team.

Kindest regards,

Asana Support

Edmund,

The crux of the issue is I should not have to incur additional financial costs for a poorly communicated promotion pushed by Asana. Again, nowhere in the promotion did it say that there were feature differences between Business and Advantage. Only communication was upgrade for free and get Asana Intelligence. The details are important, and the next time a promotion is offered, I will research the offer in its fine print. So, the next question is what the cost difference between Advantage and Enterprise and will Asana cover the cost due to the poorly communicated impact of moving from Business to Advantage? I don’t need Enterprise features other than unlimited portfolios and I am not willing to spend more than the $4,500 I already am. I have invested significant time in standing up Asana with XX and do not want to move to another platform. Also I would like to find a mutual resolution other than XX bears the brunt of this situation.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for getting back to me and sharing your concerns. I sincerely apologize if my earlier response came across as dismissive or unhelpful in any way. That was never my intention, and I truly value your feedback.

I’d like to clarify that the limits associated with each plan, including the number of portfolios, are fixed and cannot be modified. These limits are part of the plan’s structure and are consistent for all users within the same plan. I regret any confusion caused by the promotion and understand how this situation may feel disappointing.

If your needs exceed this limit, you might consider upgrading to the Enterprise plan, which offers unlimited portfolios along with additional features designed for larger-scale management.

If you have any additional questions or if there’s something else I can assist with, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’m here to help.

Kindest regards,

Asana Support

Edmund,

You have provided zero recourse to this dilemma. There was no stipulation or forewarning that there were differences between business and advanced. Only the promotion of Asana intelligence at no cost. I feel almost like I have been a victim of a bait and switch advertisement. Understand I cannot go back to business but need my account modified to have same number of portfolios as I did in business. If you are unable to do this, please escalate to your manager.

Hi Eric,

I hope you’re doing well! XXX with the Asana Support team here.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. I understand how frustrating it must be to experience unexpected limitations after upgrading, and I appreciate the opportunity to address this.

Kindly be advised that since the legacy Business plan is an older plan that is no longer offered in the market, we are unable to move your account back to it. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Additionally, I recommend reviewing this [article guide] for more details on the limitations and features associated with each Asana plan. This guide may help clarify any restrictions and provide insights into how you can optimize your current plan.

If you have any additional questions or further clarification, please let me know and I will address them as quickly as we can.

Warm regards,

Asana Support

That’s true, the Advanced plan has additional features, but also new limits. This is clear on the pricing page, and discussed at length on the forum. But it is an issue if the in-app process doesn’t clarify those limitations clearly!

the in app promotion is how the offer was presented to me. No discussion of limitations. Simply a promotion that said move to advance plan at no additional cost and get asana intelligence. No redirect to a plans compare matrix or note that plans were different. While not quite a bait and switch, asana definitely has one disgruntled customer!

Bastien - The in-app process and the lack of forewarning regarding the change in plans is what has me upset. Zero notification about the plan differences, just promotion of Asana Intelligence by upgrading for free to Advance. The way that we set up our workflow, Portfolio’s are a critical component. To have those now reduced to 100 from unlimited is unacceptable. To completely reorganize our task management system is going to take time and labor resources that are already scarce. Not a very happy Asana customer at the moment.

@Eric_Petzoldt Were you told when? Was the date of “eventualy” revealed?
