Move/Copy entire Sections from one Project to another Project

+1, this is a huge downside to Asana at the moment. Why is this not receiving attention?

All of our projects reset each month so while I can add a section to the template, I have to go back and add this new section to all of our current projects. Being able to copy sections that keep not only the tasks but the subtasks would be extremely helpful.

Itā€™s pretty surprising that this feature doesnā€™t exist, itā€™s essential.

Browse around the feedback forum a bit. Youā€™d be surprised what weā€™ve been asking about for 4+ years.

Hi @Jeremy_Newman

There is a way to mirror a section in one project to another!

Step 1: Select all the tasks within the section you desire to mirror. (You can select all tasks by clicking the first tasks, holding the Shift key, and clicking the last task
Step 2: Click the black pop-up box at the bottom of your screen and choose ā€œEdit project or sectionā€. I have provided a screenshot for convenience.

Step 3: Click ā€œadd to projectā€ and you are able to add to a certain section within that project.

Hope this helps!

Wouldnā€™t this just multi-home the tasks? So if a task gets completed in one project, it is marked complete in ALL the projects?

Yes you are correct. Asana does not have the capability just yet to mirror and then have the tasks be completed separately.

A workaround would be to have ā€œtask addedā€ rules in your project and then multi select your desired tasks and copy and paste.

Hopefully thereā€™s a feature in the future that bypasses these workarounds!

Hello,
Are there any updates on when this feature may be added to Asana?
Thank you!

+100. Could Asana please prioritize this feature?

Looking to do the same, moving entire sections into different projects to prevent needing to recreate details as projects develop. Thank you

We are also seeking to move entire sections from one project to a separate project.

I just want to add my voice that this would be a very useful feature. In organizing my projects, I donā€™t always have a clear idea of where I would want a given set of tasks to fall under, and after Iā€™ve built out a set of tasks if I think it would work better under another project, It would be nice to be able to move it all at once. Iā€™m honestly running into a roadblock here.

This very relevant and very helpful. I would recommend this as a high priority option. Thank you!

ā€œSecondingā€ this feature request! Very critical for use and save a lot of time readding sections to other teams & projects.

+1 for me! We are a fabrication company and use just the one project ā€œJobsā€, and have a section for all our job numbers. As you can imagine, the list of sections gets very long. Once a job is finished, I ā€˜archiveā€™ the section by copying the section name into a project called ā€œArchiveā€ then move the associated tasks from the finished job section over to Archive project, then drag the tasks into the Archive section. Itā€™s laborious but I donā€™t want to lose information that is relevant to old jobs.
PLEASE could we have the drag and drop option to move sections from one project to another?!
