Messaging versus slack channels

Hi
We are suffering with the classic too many channels issue. We are heavily embedded in Asana BUT we don’t use messages on projects YET.

Our reasons are:

  • people like slack and it’s instant messaging
  • We can create Asana tasks from slack threads
  • it’s more informal

But the main reason is at present there is no central hub for users to review instant messaging other than the In Box or manually going to the project to look at messages there.

Our team love the collection of channels so in trying to run a pilot to transition to Asana messaging I’m interested to know:

  • is messaging on the roadmap
  • what improvements are you likely to make to encourage team members to transition

Hi @Vanessa_Gardner,

I’ve moved this topic to English Forum > Tips and Tricks as a better place for this discussion.

As an Ambassador, you’ll get early notice of upcoming features and improvements, like Messaging, but generally Asana doesn’t publish its roadmap so I don’t think you’ll get the level of answer you may be hoping for.

In general, it seems Asana Messaging is a lighter-weight feature and not competing with something like Slack. Indeed, it’s common to use both products together, with clear protocols.

Thanks,

Larry
