Maximum Number of Tasks/subtasks on a Project

Hi Asana Team,

Do we have any limit on the total number of tasks(including subtasks) that can be tagged to a project?

We are planning to integrate Salesforce cases into Asana, and the number of cases could be huge. Initially, we thought of creating each Asana project for a Salesforce case under a Portfolio, but due to the limit of only 500 projects under a Portfolio, we dropped that idea.

Now, we are considering creating tasks for those cases under a single project, with each task having subtasks. Could you please confirm the maximum number of tasks allowed in a project?

@Ayushi_Jain - Great question! You can have up to 400,000 tasks per project. Will that be enough?

Please note, it’s advisable to customize your views to only show the tasks that are currently relevant (meaning filtering out completed, or saving certain sections as collapsed) to make sure the project is easy to navigate and always loads and moves quickly.

But, yes, with proper sectioning and filters, you should have no problem adding more than 100,000 tasks to a project.

IMPORTANT: In custom views, when grouped by custom field or perhaps with other custom filters, I have noticed custom views do have a much much smaller limit. As far as I can tell, it appears that only approx. 1,000 tasks can be displayed in a custom project view. So, if you expect to have more than 1,000 cases open (or 1,000 tasks/subtasks combined) at any given time, you’ll want to be very deliberate about your filters and grouping choices to be sure the most relevant/current cases are showing in that project view.
