Make it easier to edit longer titles in Android mobile app (e.g., text box instead of single line)

In previous versions the title was on multiple lines, but now it looks horrible, being only one line. I see this as a serious limitation.

Other apps like “Jira CRM” have multiple lines.

Please change this

Hello @Luciano_Franca - Thank you for your feedback. I am going to move this post to our English Forum > Product Feedback that way other users can also cast a vote for this feature.

Thank you!

I don’t understand why you would remove a feature and regress the application.
The way it is currently is horrible

It looks more like a bug because in the browser it is possible to edit the title in multiple lines, but not in the application.

I’ve merged your post into an existing topic where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button (like I just did).

I also changed this topic’s title to make it clearer and more request-oriented (I hope).

Thanks,

Larry

Is this serious ? Vote ?

The 2023 version already had this functionality and it was lost in 2024

The Web version has this functionality, this seems more like a bug than a new feature.

Yes, it’s clear that it operates differently on the two platforms and used to work on Android.

Asana doesn’t consider this a bug because they define a bug as not operating the way they intended. This is operating as they intended, it’s just not the way we want.

Let’s get to the facts:

1st, in older versions of the Android APP from 2023, the title was on several lines.

2nd, in the Asana database, the title field of a task has several characters and in the Web application I can put a giant title, but when I try to change it in the Android APP, I am limited, and this seems more like a bug, since on the web I can make the title with line breaks, but in the Android application the same title does not respect the line breaks.

I’m sorry. Despite your good second screenshot, I had it in my mind based on your first screenshot that your use case was for a long title due to word wrapping, not due to the insertion of newline characters (line breaks).

I use that feature myself, but with low expectations, because as you can see in your own screenshot, Asana doesn’t render it correctly in the task card; it’s only correct in the task detail pane.

If I had to guess, I’d expect that Asana would choose to eliminate the inconsistencies by simply stripping newline characters entirely, because we’re in the vast minority, and they won’t want to make the effort to make this operate consistently with respect to newlines in all surfaces and on all platforms. Just my take, because I’d rather have it the way it is now than lose it working in the places where it now does.

I don’t understand what you mean.

The main issue here is that in the past, in 2023, Asana did what I want and this was taken away from it.

In the past, Asana had the same behavior as “Jira”, see my 1st Image.

Currently, the functionality exists in Asana Web and my big problem is that I don’t work in the description field, I put everything in the title, making it horrible to edit on the Cell Phone, which is why I am recommending that my clients use Jira instead of Asana until this horrible problem is solved.
