Locking Options Across Custom Fields Together (Cascading selects)

I am trying to set up reporting for many different custom fields across many different projects. These custom fields are all related to our Associates. For example, I have a custom field for the Associate’s NAME. Then I have several other custom fields that are associated with that name, such as Team, Cost Center, Region, etc.

I have a rule in 1 of my projects that will automatically fill in the Team, Cost Center, Region, etc when the NAME is chosen… but it would be super helpful if there were a way to kind of “lock” custom field options together, if that makes sense? So that, no matter what project we were in, choosing that NAME would automatically change all of the custom fields associated with that name.

I have a project that is the Master Directory for our reference. Each Associate is a task line. The custom fields are all filled in, but I still have to manually set up the rules to connect it all together in other projects.

I’m sure AI could do it, but that would use a TON of credits. :grimacing:

We are currently on Asana Advanced. Perhaps an Enterprise plan with Rule Bundles would be helpful in this case?

Asana doesn’t have cascading select fields.

Bundles could help, but only in that it would allow you to apply a set of custom fields and rules related to them to a set of projects; it’s still not native support.

Feature Request: Native Cascading/Dependent Selects in Asana Forms

Is there any update on supporting native cascading/dependent dropdowns in Asana Forms?

We have a use case for a Sales Request Tracker where the Sales team needs to raise an iteration against an existing request. Ideally, the form would allow users to:

Select Opportunity/Customer → Select Existing Request → Auto-populate existing request details

The selected request should pull relevant data from the existing Asana task, while the user provides only the new/updated information.

This would help us:

  • Avoid duplicate data entry

  • Maintain consistency with the original request

  • Link iterations to the correct existing request

  • Improve the overall request-tracking workflow

Are dependent/cascading selects and/or dynamic lookup of existing Asana tasks in Forms planned or currently available natively?
