Linking fields from project to creating task

Is there a way to automate/connect a field from a project in a portfolio to a task in a specific project?

Scenario:
We use the “convert task to project” to handle our intake process, e.g.

  • asks come in as a task item in our “intake project”
  • we prioritize the ask
  • asks that meet our threshold get converted to a project in a specific portfolio

We have custom library fields that copy from the task item - good - i.e. “Project Phase” = Implementation when the project launches
New portfolio rules (thank you Asana) let me update those portfolio-project fields based on status updates - great - i.e. When Status = “Complete” set “Project Phase” = Upgrade Launched
What I want to do is then update that field in the corresponding task that generated the project, e.g. back in our “Intake Project”, set the “Project Phase” of the “[Converted to project] task” to the same as the project?

I know this is my scenario, but I’m sure there would be other reasons people might want to have some similar functionality

This would be huge for us as well! I would love the ability for project custom fields to push down to all tasks within that project. Our use case is that we have an intake form that creates a task which is then converted to a project. These are some unique custom fields that are on on the task (e.g. product and market) that then are pushed to the project once it’s converted. Some of the individual tasks under this new project are then sent to other teams to work on and we need these custom fields filled in with the unique variable from the project.
