Issue with Dates Created By Template

I’m running into a major issue with dates automatically created by my template.

It appears that Asana is automatically adding a start date to my project created from a template. This is causing due dates to incorrectly assign. Here’s a link to a video of that behavior: Template Start Date Issue

In the screenshot below, you’ll see that I assigned a task 365 days before the project due date.

When I use the template to create a project, it is dating the due date as 6/3/2024.

When I looked at the project due date, Asana automatically added a range. I put the due date as 10/26/2025. I did not add a date range for the project, Asana did that.

Here are the general date settings for my template.

This is definitely what is causing my date issues, but how can I fix it so Asana does not arbitrarily add a start date to my project? Oddly, it is not impacting every task, only some.

@Amber_Ewert_Snyder - do you want this 365 calendar days or work/week days before the due date? I’m fairly certain the issue is that you have “skip weekends” chosen, so this is giving you a date 365 week days before the due date (if you run a workdays function on 6/3/24, it’s around 10/26/25). I do think the language in the template could be clearer, as I also had a hard time figuring this out.

Thank you! I do think that was the issue. I’m playing around with it a bit now.
