Is there a way to restrict permission to set a baseline?

We want to start using baselines. But we want the first date set to be unchangeable from that point on. Can we restrict users from setting a baseline and have a designated user who is the only person with permission to set these dates?

I think @Kim_S’s “first date set” reference refers to the Gantt view’s Layout options > Baseline setting:

I’ve moved this topic to where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button.

Thanks,

Yes, this is exactly what I was asking. Can we restrict users from being able to change this date once it is set?

Unfortunately, not, but votes and mentioning specific use cases here will help to lobby for the change to be made one day, perhaps.

Currently not that I can see. The current way baselines work is it takes a snapshot of everyday even if their is no changes to the “baseline”, which is very cumbersome to manage. Most similar softwares requires you to tell it you want to set a baseline and it takes a snapshot which is easier to manage when you make changes. Currently you kind of have to make a note somewhere of the date you are setting your new baseline so you can easily refer back to it. I have asked for something similar as a improvement to the current system here.
