Is it possible to make time-tracking fields local to a private project?

Hello,

Is it possible to ensure the time-tracking fields are local to a private project and so will not show in a task that is multi-homed to another project that guests have access to?

Thank you.

@Lara_Murray - to my knowledge, because this is a standard global field, that’s not possible. Could you explain your use case? Perhaps there’s another solution/workaround to accomplish your need.

Hi @Stephen_Li , thank you.

We use milestones to time work on deliverables for our clients. These are homed in two projects- one for internal use and one visible to the client. I’m trying to avoid having duplicates of the milestones so it would be helpful if the time tracking showed only in the private project.

Some PM tools like Monda.com can restrict the column view to certain people. But Asana.com does not provide any such facility.

In case you need any help setting it up let me know here and I’ll be happy to assist.

@Lara_Murray - is the client a guest in your workspace or do you share a read-only link of the project with them? If they are guests, do you use those milestones for any communication w/ the client (or just timing)?

Hi @Stephen_Li, sorry missed this response.

Clients are currently guests and the milestones are also used to show the client what the deliverables we plan to achieve each month are as well as a simple way for the team to record the time spent in total on a deliverable rather than timing each individual task.

It works well other than, in an ideal world, the client wouldn’t see that actual time data recorded!

@Lara_Murray - gotcha, I’m unfortunately not aware of a way to natively hide that field from guests.
