Private fields for tasks and projects

This feature is essential. We need private fields.

We need to be able to track budgets, time cost, etc… on a task level basis without guests and task collaborators being able to view this private information.

It’s extremely frustrating that this hasn’t been implemented yet, and is really hurting productivity, and I’m certain countless other users feel the same as there’s several topics that would be solved by this that go back years.

As a workaround, I’ve had to duplicate every task as a subtask within itself in order to do this, and it wastes a ton of time.

Hi @anon91511969,

In case you haven’t seen them yet, there are some other workarounds beside the one you’re using; you can see them listed here - see item F12:

I know there are some workarounds to make fields private in a project by multihoming. However, with the recent release of more granular controls over custom fields, the next step should be the ability to make custom fields private or hidden. This would be a significant improvement, enhancing collaboration among people with different roles and permission levels.

(I couldn’t find a thread for this.)

@Esteban_Giannini,

Did you come across this one:

If you feel it’s the same idea, let me know and I can merge the topics.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to announce we are gradually rolling out the ability to set specific custom fields and their values private! :tada:

When a custom field is marked as private, only explicitly named members can view or edit it—across all projects, portfolios, or tasks where it appears.
