Include Overdue Tasks in Daily Summary

It would be useful to see overdue tasks in the Daily Summary email that Asana sends out.

The Asana Email Notifications page indicates that they are not currently included: “Overdue tasks will not appear in Daily Summary emails.”

The problem with that is that, unless a user is constantly monitoring their My Tasks list, they can easily miss the fact that they have overdue tasks. Adding them to the Daily Summary email would seem to be a simple solution to that.

Welcome to the Forum @wwwKris and thanks for your feedback; we’ll take it onboard for future updates!

Hey @Marie - I’m coming in late to the party again, but I wanted to put in an additional request for the “Daily Summary” - which is to include a Summary of Inbox notifications.

Whenever I do roll-out of Asana with new users, I always stress the 2 most critical places to go everyday are My Tasks, and their Inbox. So if the Daily Summary email mirrored that it would be super helpful - showing users a rundown of their Tasks, and new Inbox comments/activity.

AND I agree with @wwwKris that Overdue Tasks should absolutely be included in this Summary. I’m actually quite surprised they’re not and don’t totally understand what the thinking is behind leaving them off.

Thanks @Joel_Charles, I think it a great idea! Especially if you rely heavily on email notifications. I’ve gone ahead and escalated a task to our Product so they can keep this in mind for the future!

Were you responding to posts on Christmas?!

Thanks for passing this along. I totally understand Asana’s stance that users should be encouraged to NOT rely on emails, and I also agree with that (personally I have all email notifications turned off). But the Daily Summary seems like a good “snapshot” for new users or those who slow to adopt. And for those users, having Inbox messages would be a great addition and I think it would give anyone everything they need to see at a glance.

Merry Christmas!
