Inbox @mention filter includes items that are not @mentions (e.g., member completes a task, member comments on a task)

Steps to reproduce:
Click on Inbox > @ Mention filter

Browser version:
Chrome Version 85.0.4183.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hi @Angie_Canon, thanks for your report!

I just tested this on my Asana account but I only see notifications for tasks where I was @ mentioned. Can you follow these steps and let me know if the issue persists?

  • Clear your browser cache
  • Try from a incognito window. If it works, the issue can be related to a browser extension

If the issue persists, can you confirm if you were @mentioned in any of the previous comments in the task “[912] Connect and/or tweak CTC’s”?

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi! I already went through the inbox and archived those that were not @mentions and dealt with those that were. If I see this issue again, I will try what you list and reply here. THANK YOU!

@Emily_Roman This is an issue for me as well, though perhaps it is user error. It’s true that I only get notifications for tasks where I was @ mentioned—but once I am @ mentioned on that task once, I get an inbox message for EVERY message posted on that task, whether or not that new message @ mentions me. I would like to be able to filter my Inbox so that I only get an Inbox message when I am specifically @ mentioned in a new message. I don’t want an Inbox message every time anyone posts anything else on that task without @ mentioning me.

Welcome to the Asana Community Forum @anon70391560! When someone @ mentions you on a task, you are automatically added as collaborator and will receive activity notifications for this task. If you wish, you can filter your inbox notifications by @ mentioned:

Right. This is happening with the @Mentioned filter selected. If I have been @Mentioned once, ever, on a task (even if it was 4 weeks ago) I get Inbox messages every time someone posts a new message on that task, even if they don’t @Mention me in that new message. I would like to be able to use the @Mentioned filter to ONLY see new messages where I am specifically @Mentioned
