Improved Gmail Integration for CRM functions

Asana’s Gmail integration currently only supports creating a new task from within Gmail and attaching the email thread to that task. However, there is no functionality to add a Gmail thread to an existing task, limiting workflow flexibility.

To make Asana more competitive with platforms like Salesforce and HubSpot, it would be highly beneficial to introduce the following features:

  1. Linking Gmail threads to existing tasks: Allow users to attach a Gmail thread to any existing task from the Asana interface, enhancing task management and communication tracking.

  2. Automated email-to-task commenting: Enable users to set a rule where all emails sent or received from a particular email address automatically become comments on a specific task, ensuring that all relevant communications are housed in one place.

These features would significantly streamline email and task management, providing better integration for teams who rely heavily on email communication in their project workflows.

Your best bet for requests like these are to first search Product Feedback to see if either 1) or 2) is found and then vote there, and also add any use case.

If either/both are not found, add separate request(s), including any use case info, and also vote for your new request(s).
