Importing Time to Start and Due Date for CSV upload

Hi, it would come in handy for some of us to add time for start date and due dates. I would also enable us to circumvent the “start date can’t be the same as due date” problem.

Thanks you

I would like to add start times and end times for tasks as part of the spreadsheet for a csv import into a project. Is this possible?

Hi @Daniel_Watt, welcome to the Asana Community Forum

While this feature isn’t available at this time, hopefully it’s something our Product team can implement in the future

We do have an existing thread for this feature request in the #productfeedback category so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the existing one to consolidate feedback.

I’ll keep you posted and let you know if I have any updates

Add me to the list. Importing Due time would be great. And seems like an important feature?

Yeah I just imported 200 tasks from CSV thinking that start time/end time was just part of the deal, only to discover that it created a custom field called “start time” and “end time” and the final result was me having to delete the entire section along with all the tasks imported because it was just a bunch of worthlessness.

The date format was also unrecognized by the importer despite being a common (and, precise) date format in Excel. It did not recognize August 17, 2026 as a date. That is really odd. It turned it into a custom field also. I had to go delete them.

Also, for “Section” I had the section named typed precisely. Instead of putting them under that section, it created a new section, titled the exact same thing.

I would like to add start times and end times for tasks as part of the spreadsheet for a csv import into a project too.

I would like to request the TIMESTAMPS be included in the CSV exports as well. It only adds the “date” and not the time. Asana2Go does it – why can’t the standard Asana export add that?

Hi @Ryan_Knuppel, are you saying Asana2Go is the solution here for CSV uploads ?

@Ryan_Knuppel,

I appreciate the nice comment about my Asana2Go, but your request is unrelated to this thread so I’ve unmarked it as the solution, and also could you start a new thread in Product Feedback to make this request?

Thanks,

Larry

I’m afraid not, @Jonathan_Stern; see my reply at:

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks @lpb I wanted to unmark it as a Solution but I thought it would be polite to check first
