Icon to URL links for websites outside of Asana missing

My team noticed on late Friday that the icon (looks like a small box with an arrow pointing up & to the right) is missing for URLs that are pasted into a custom field. Instead of being able to click on that icon and go directly to the external website, it is gone completely and now you must copy and paste the link from the field into your browser. I did notice that when pasting a link into the description field, this issue is NOT occurring and works just fine. Only URLs that are pasted in fields.

Was this removed altogether or am I missing something? Is there a workaround? Thanks!

Hi,

I just tested and it seems to work as expected. Be careful, http://google.com is a valid website, googl.com is not… Is that what’s going on here?

@Kendra_Roy: We are having this issue as well.

Thanks. I pasted an image to provide more detail. This is a link to our CRM system (our Asana tasks are linked to our CRM) and this is a real, legitimate link. I can paste into my browser and it takes me to our CRM platform so I don’t think that this in the case in terms of validity.

When I hover over or around this link in the field itself, I can only edit, copy/paste. I don’t have the ability to select the link anymore and it direct me where I need to go.

Indeed it looks like the task pane does not show a link button anymore, @Rebecca_McGrath known bug or intentional?

Hi all, I can confirm that this is a known bug and our Engineering team are currently working on a fix. I’ll keep you updated here once resolved!

We have the same issue. We track multiple links for individual tasks, too many to have them all assessable as a column in list view. This is a new issue as of the latest release that has a major impact on the usability of Asana for our projects. Bug help +1

The below is currently no longer accurate.

Good to know. Same issue in desktop app. This matters to us. Thank you!

Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing: According to this link, the text type custom fields having http:// or https:// URLs provides an option to visit the link. This is not working in the task pane since recently although it works in the main pane.

Steps to reproduce: Visit Log in - Asana and hover on any text custom fields that are https links.

Browser version: Chrome

I’m experiencing the same issue! Glad I’m not the only one. This field-type feature is critical to my team’s workflow. Hoping Asana can fix it.

Confirmed that this doesn’t appear to be working in the Asana mobile app either.
Browser version: Chrome & Safari
Mobile App for Asana: iOS 14.6

I’m experiencing this issue as well. I’ve tested with both http:// and https:// addresses, as well as a variety of end file formats, and it seems to be universally dead. Please fix!

I am having this issue as well!

Came here to report this as well! Seems that there was actually a change made for some reason to remove the “open in new tab” icon to the right of a URL which was super useful!

There was a little “open” box-arrow icon to the right of the URL. Kinda made this “URL” custom field that I have useless now

Thanks!

Came to report the same, bad UI experience yestarday without this.

That’s true that when you are in the list view the button appears in the colum but not in the details of the task as reported

Thank you
