I would like to create a template that shows that a specific groups of tasks takes 3 weeks, the subsequent section of tasks takes 2 weeks, etc. I do not need dates for the template. The due dates would be inserted once the template is active. Can this happen?
For your template to have visible durations on a Timeline, it has to be constructed with dates. No dates, no visibility and no durations.
You can make a template including Items with defined durations and dependencies, and a placeholder start date, like 1/1/23, and then when you activate it, batch move the tasks to the appropriate start date. This will maintain the established dependencies and durations.
