How to make a form submission automatically be a subtask?

OK team.

I have a Project “Design Projects” and the tasks in those projects sometimes need paint samples produced.

Currently, I have the Design Team going to a Project called “Finish Sample Requests” and using a form native to that Project with all the pertinent questions.

I really need a way to automate the resulting Form Submission task to be a Subtask of whatever “job” they need the paint sample for. All “jobs” exist as a main parent task in “Design Projects”.

I would love to have a field in the Form that says “Past link to your job’s Job Info parent task” and just let Asana use that to know what task it needs to be subbed into.

I know I could ask the Designers to just manually convert the resulting task into a Subtask of their job, but that’s a very clunky process, especially when trying to onboard new team members, or when working with team members who aren’t quick to pick up on software.

It’s possible that the add-on Flowsana is able to do this. @Phil_Seeman

I tried but can’t think of a way to automate this, using either native Asana or Flowsana. There are multiple challenges:

  • The form-submission task is in a different project than the target top-level task.
  • There’s currently no automation I know of to move a top-level task to be a subtask of another specific task.

Understood, it may be wishful thinking, thank you!
