Hi there, this is a bit of a weird one. We are setting up our Asana automation for a 50+ person marketing team. Our automation for our different projects is very complex and we worry that a general team member’s ability to create their own projects and tasks outside of what our super admins have created will disrupt our automation. Is there a way to set permissions so that the only people that can create projects within a team are super admins?
@Dani_Oleszkiewicz - welcome to the forum! Could you clarify what you mean by your “Asana automation”? To my knowledge, you can’t prevent users from creating their own projects (you can prevent them from sharing them with the entire organization, but that’s not the same thing).
Hi Stephen, I’m also looking to limit users ability to create new projects. I only want them to contribute to the ones I’ve already created. Is there a setting for this?
Hi @Margaret_Gelly , I don’t think that is possible. And if I’m honest I think it is good that it is not.
This does force you to engage with your department, train them well, and explain to them the why behind your restriction.
Also, it’s still not clear to what kind of automation you’re talking about, and how someone creating their own projects and tasks would conflict with it.
Hi everyone! @Dani_Oleszkiewicz, to clarify, you are referring to rules, right? Are you concerned about the usage limits?
As Jan and Stephen mentioned, it’s not possible to prevent team members from creating projects and using rules, since these features are available at the team level. We recommend educating the members and creating clear guidelines and best practices for collaboration within these teams. You could add these to the Overview page, for example.
That said, if your plan doesn’t have any usage restriction, members creating projects in your team should not impact the team’s workflow, especially if they make their projects private
Sorry when I say automation, I mean rules. We have a very intricate rule structure set up and I worry someone will create a project that does not include those rules or breaks ones that I have created.
