How to add additional rules in asana forms by multihoming or any other feature?

Hello Everyone, I am currently working on Asana forms to create a platform request flow for new hires. Our organization has 50 platforms in place, and the new hire platform access form allows the hiring manager to select multiple platforms for which the new hire requires access. Due to Asana’s limit of 50 rules per project, I am unable to add more rules directly. I have already created the form and automated it with 50 individual rules. However, I am looking for a solution to add more rules. Is it possible to use multihoming by creating another project and then multihome the forms, thereby allowing me to utilize an additional 50 rules in the new project? Your insights and suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Nimisha

Welcome, @Nimisha_Korde,

That’s a lot of rules!

Each rule can have multiple parts to it. Is there any chance your rules could be consolidated more?

I think we need more details, maybe screenshots, to provide any more detailed advice.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi Nimisha,

Using multihoming is a clever approach to expand your capabilities within Asana! By creating a second project and utilizing multihoming, you can indeed take advantage of an additional set of rules. Here’s how you could implement it:

Create a Second Project: Set up a new project specifically for additional platform requests. This project will have its own set of rules.

Multihome Tasks: When the hiring manager fills out the form in the first project, you can use an automation (like a webhook or Zapier) to automatically create a task in the second project. This task can contain the necessary details from the original request.

Set Up Rules: In the second project, create additional rules to manage the requests for the platforms that weren’t covered in the first project. This allows you to handle more than 50 rules effectively.

Communicate the Process: Make sure to inform your team about the two-project setup, so they understand how requests will be processed and where to look for updates.

Review and Iterate: After implementing the multihoming strategy, keep an eye on how it’s working. You might need to refine the process based on feedback or any challenges that arise.
This setup should give you the flexibility you need without hitting Asana’s rule limit. If you need further customization or if your requirements change in the future, consider exploring Asana’s API for more complex automations.

Best of luck with your implementation!
