Where is the option to export incomplete tasks only to a CSV? I just exported CSV to EXCEL and it saved ALL tasks… complete and incomplete. Is there a way to just export the incomplete tasks? Thanks.
Are you exporting a project or a search (or something else)? I don’t believe you can pre-filter project exports, but if you’re not doing this for a huge number of projects, you should be able to filter the resulting csv on the completion date column (only empty cells) pretty quickly.
I’m in a project with tasks and the only export option I see is in the drop down of the project itself. This allows me to export a csv with incomplete and complete tasks, but I don’t need the completed tasks. It would be great to be able to export the incomplete tasks only and I was wondering if there was a way to do that. Deleting the completed tasks after they are exported or on the Excel sheet is time consuming. Will Asana consider adding this feature? Another option that would be helpful is to be able to export all of the tasks in one group or section of that project only. Is there any way to do this or do I still have to export all tasks in a project and delete those I don’t want? Thanks.
I’m not aware of any way to natively pre-filter the project exports. If filtering the resulting CSV is a non-starter, perhaps you could:
- Try exporting a saved search (filter for the project, completion status, and include any other fields you want)
- Consider something like @lpb’s Asana2Go or a similar add-on.
- If you use the Google Suite, try the link to sheet option (and set up the filters one time)
I don’t see any existing feedback requests for this, so if you want, you could create a thread in English Forum > Product Feedback for others to vote on. Asana doesn’t publish a feature roadmap so I don’t know if this is something they’re already considering.
I figured out an easier way to delete the completed tasks after the CSV is loaded into Excel.
I made a section in the project named COMPLETED and put it as the last section in the project.
I put all of the completed tasks in that section so they are in the last rows of the CSV on the E-Sheet. I then can more easily see, select and delete all of the completed tasks on the Excel sheet. I still would like to have the option to only export incomplete tasks, but this workaround will due for now. Thanks.
