I love using “Roles” in Project Templates (e.g., Project Manager, Social Media, Performance, Video Editor). Right now, when creating a project from a template, we have to manually choose which team member will take on which role.
Here is an idea for a massive workflow improvement:
It would be amazing if we could assign a Default Role to users at the account/profile level.
For example, I run an agency. I could go to John’s profile and set his global role as “Video Editor”, and set Sarah as “Performance”.
Then, when I spin up a project from a template that requires a “Video Editor” and “Performance”, Asana would automatically pull them in and assign their tasks. I wouldn’t even need to manually map the roles during the project creation!
Of course, we should still be able to override this if someone is on vacation or if we want to assign someone else for that specific project, but having Asana auto-fill roles based on user profiles would take templates to the next level.
Would this be useful for your teams as well?
