Find all broken rules?

Hi,

I am pretty sure there is no solutions to this problem but here goes: how can you find all broken rules?

We recently merged the personal and pro account of our assistant, and the result has been worrying:

  • she lost her My Tasks structure
  • all rules including steps like “assign to her” are broken

I found broken rules by pure luck, but now I am worried there might be others…

I would love to see this as well as other reports within the admin panel.

This would definitely be helpful. I manage the Rules across many projects and have no way of knowing when one is broken besides checking the Customization tab of every project. A notification would help me fix things a lot faster.

Yes we would love to be able to run a search or report of all broken rules. This happens when someone leaves our org and their account is removed from Asana. We can reassign all of the tasks but we can’t reassign rule functionality

Hello, @aji005 – Has there been any plan on exposing broken rules in a simpler way? We’ve had folks leave the organization who were tied to organizational rules. With over 9,000 projects in Asana, it’d be nice to find all the needles in this haystack.

fyi here’s the latest answer we got from support regarding this topic:

When a user is deprovisioned, the rules ownership should pass to the project owner. Therefore, Asana should automatically reassign rule ownership. If a user leaves an organization, the rules that they have created should not break unless something that is needed for the rule’s trigger or action is deleted.

If you have a case where rules ended up in a broken state, please reply with the screenshot of the rule settings and project URL so that we can investigate and reassign rule ownership if needs be.

What about when a rule has a trigger to assign a subtask to someone, and that person or account is no longer associated with the organization? I have a situation right now where I need to reassign all rules from one user who has left, to another who is taking the place and it’s near impossible to find them all

I believe you need to ask support, because Asana did not build any way to find those rules, the support should take the burden of helping you. But I am not entirely sure they will though (I do not work for Asana)
