Currently there is an option to convert a task into a project. It would be nice to be able to convert a Section into a new Project while keeping all the tasks, including completed tasks, associated with that Section to follow and be associated with the new project.

Have you tried multiple selection of tasks and then association to multiple projects ?
This solution is not as automatic as the one you wish but you can:
1- Multi select all the tasks you want to link to your new project
2- A task can belong to several project at the same time so add the selected tasks to the new project.
3- With all the tasks still selected, suppress the link to the previous project
4- All the tasks are now visible only from your new project
Doing this you can “quite” easily convert a section to a project.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I did do as you mentioned. But it would be nice to have the option to convert a Section into a new Project since there is already an option to convert a task into a project.
This feature would remove the need to change my task view to All Tasks so I can also select and move completed tasks. Important for reporting purposes and when eventually archiving the project.

I agree. I’ve had a couple projects that grow large enough where it is inconvenient to scroll through all of them on mobile. It would be nice to be able to convert task sections to new projects to mitigate this.

upvoting this! it happens so often that what we think will be just a section of a project ends up expanding in scope. would be great to just be able to one click > convert to project .
