I’d like to request the ability to attach files from Microsoft SharePoint to Asana tasks through Rules automation.
Currently, this functionality is not supported, and Rules cannot handle SharePoint attachments. This creates friction for teams that rely on SharePoint as their primary document repository and want to streamline processes in Asana.
We are planning to onboard more members to the platform, and it is essential for us to embed links to our SharePoint templates directly into Asana during task creation. Enabling this integration within Rules would significantly improve workflow efficiency and reduce manual steps. Many organizations depend on SharePoint for compliance and document management, so this enhancement would deliver a major productivity boost.
As an enterprise-grade tool, it’s surprising that this capability is not already in scope.
Hi @Rupal_Patel , you can add your SharePoint links into the task’s description of tasks within your project template. I don’t understand why you need rules to do this for you. Unless I’m missing something?
Hi Richard,
On Task creation, I want a very specific link to be attached as a template from share point. I don’t want users to use an old version of the template which then becomes the basis of the workflow. We will want to do this for a number of our processes
Hi @Rupal_Patel , I’m not entirely clear on this sentence. You want to link to a template of what in Sharepoint? A doc?
If these links change often, how about use bit.ly or something equivalent so that you have one fixed link in Asana tasks and then you update that link by bit.ly to the latest (newest links in Sharepoint)? It is basically the same thing as going to edit your rules with the latest links.
I’m not understanding perhaps how your tasks are being created in Asana; manually? via a form? via a task template or project template?
For what it’s worth, you could have a rule to add text (a url to Sharepoint) into a description field or any other text field.
