Currently, there doesn’t seem a way for Draft with AI to only use project or portfolio status updates in a portfolio to draft a new update. This is a major blocker for Leaders that need to only review and summarize status updates from in a portfolio, not from the tasks and details in the projects.
Ideally, draft with AI would create a status update with sections organized by portfolio, with each section for each portfolio in the portfolio (where the new update is created). I’ve tried adding guidance many times and nothing works to avoid draft with AI using task details and only using status updates.
Please help add this functionality so we can streamline reporting across the organization.

What you mean is that at the moment, AI in a portfolio status looks at all tasks in those projects?
I kinda agree with @Chaya_Cloward that it would make sense to be able to choose the source of the AI Portfolio update (Status Update vs Projects data).
If you heavily rely on Project Status Updates, (filled by people, with possibly a bit of help of AI), you will want that to be the main source of data (top-rated information), not the rest of the underlying project events (comments/tasks completed…)

Yes, a Director+ level should have a high-level status update written by Draft with AI, rather than detailed task updates. Their update should provide an overview of all relevant updates across the projects and portfolios within their portfolio.
Yes, I agree. I do monthly project updates with a quarterly portfolio update. I spend a bit of time editing portfolio updates since they’re so task oriented and that’s not the goal of a portfolio update. I would imagine AI can do it, we just need the right prompting or set up on the backend?

Asana needs to allow AI to see those project status update. For example our tests revelead that AI doesn’t see the custom fields in the portfolio either, this is just a context issue…
That being said, even if AI saw the status update, it doesn’t work well when you are telling AI to “ignore things” like “ignore all tasks and simply focus on status update” so I’d be curious to see the results.

Hi there,
I’d like to get a summary of all status updates in a portfolio posted on a certain day. Would this be possible in some way, or for example with AI?
This would allow you to have a super short recap of all status updates in that portfolio in case you weren’t there when they were being discussed or for example when you return from a holiday.
