Ok, maybe āsaneā is a bit of a stretch for me, but these are my habits that keep me from going off the deep end!
Filtered Views, everywhere!
Since this was released, I have applied these to everything I do, but I find it most helpful in āMy Tasksā and āPortfoliosā. I have a multi-select custom field of Task Category which gets updated by rules based on due date (marks as overdue) but also manual based on how I feel on this (Avoiding). I have filtered views such as āUrgentā = Overdue and Avoiding to focus me on the things that I cannot avoid any longer and Approvals so that I make sure I am not a blocker for my team.
In Portfolios I use them to avoid āPortfolio Inceptionā, being able to use filtered views ensure I can have tabs for types of project rather than another level of nested portfolios.
Leaning on Mr.AI Chat Bot When Itās A Bad Day
When all seems overwhelming I ask Asana AI chat to help me prioritise and give me next steps and suggestions. This helps me unblock tasks that quite frankly I keep pushing out or ignoring! The advise is surprisingly helpful
Refreshing my āStarredā List Regularly
I love using the Star to favourite projects but it was getting out of hand. It should be a quick way of accessing but as I star more and more it completely undermines the point!
Now every week I have a recurring task to remind me to refresh my starred list. This ensures I remove projects I no longer have a part in or are no longer visited regularly but add ones that I am newly a part of and need my attention.
Donāt forget to celebrate the small wins ![]()
Notes Tab in My Tasks
Using the notes tab to capture my brain dumps and incomplete ideas - when they are ready to come into life I just highlight them and turn them into a task. Simple, effective and keeps things tidy.
