šŸŽ¶ Does That Make Me Craaaazzzy šŸŽ¶ My secret Asana habits that keep me sane

Ok, maybe ā€˜sane’ is a bit of a stretch for me, but these are my habits that keep me from going off the deep end!

Filtered Views, everywhere! :eyes:

Since this was released, I have applied these to everything I do, but I find it most helpful in ā€˜My Tasks’ and ā€˜Portfolios’. I have a multi-select custom field of Task Category which gets updated by rules based on due date (marks as overdue) but also manual based on how I feel on this (Avoiding). I have filtered views such as ā€˜Urgent’ = Overdue and Avoiding to focus me on the things that I cannot avoid any longer and Approvals so that I make sure I am not a blocker for my team.

In Portfolios I use them to avoid ā€˜Portfolio Inception’, being able to use filtered views ensure I can have tabs for types of project rather than another level of nested portfolios.

Leaning on Mr.AI Chat Bot When It’s A Bad Day :speech_balloon:

When all seems overwhelming I ask Asana AI chat to help me prioritise and give me next steps and suggestions. This helps me unblock tasks that quite frankly I keep pushing out or ignoring! The advise is surprisingly helpful

Refreshing my ā€˜Starred’ List Regularly :star:

I love using the Star to favourite projects but it was getting out of hand. It should be a quick way of accessing but as I star more and more it completely undermines the point!

Now every week I have a recurring task to remind me to refresh my starred list. This ensures I remove projects I no longer have a part in or are no longer visited regularly but add ones that I am newly a part of and need my attention.

:fortune_cookie: Don’t forget to celebrate the small wins :fortune_cookie:

Notes Tab in My Tasks :memo:

Using the notes tab to capture my brain dumps and incomplete ideas - when they are ready to come into life I just highlight them and turn them into a task. Simple, effective and keeps things tidy.

:musical_note: I got a feelin’… :musical_note: I’ll be borrowing more than one of these.

Thanks for this, @Danni_VanguardCC! I love the solution you found for those tasks we keep avoiding until we can’t anymore!

Absolutely agree about refreshing the ā€˜Starred’ list regularly! I do it all the time, and it’s such a great way to stay organized. It also saves me so much time since I’m not digging around or creating a bunch of bookmark folders that I’ll eventually forget about anyway

These are all great tips! I think utilizing the Notes tab is so helpful. I have often created a project that needs refining at a later date, but when I get back to it I have no idea where I was going with it to begin with!

I really like the idea of marking a task as ā€œavoidingā€ :star_struck: I’m definitely going to borrow some of this! I’ve been using the notes tab in projects and it is a game changer. If I’m studying something that is project related and I’ll need to refer to it later, it is so helpful to find everything in one place. I also like that I can have multiple notes tabs for different subjects.

Love your post. That starred list can get so out of control! And filtered views. There are a number of projects where we have created those and linked them as a tab, like the ā€œDynamic Meā€ to see just your tasks. :flexed_biceps:
