Is there any update now, 4 months later? This is a sore need for our team.
Would love to have this work when a sort/filter is applied!
Hello @Elisa.Chen, I don’t have an update on this topic right now, but I’ll be sure to circle back here once I do!
Please, can we get this. It’d be really helpful to see all the subtasks in list view when the project is filter/sorted.
My team always overlook the overdue subtasks, and our custom list view doesn’t show this.
Been 14 months and 3 different jobs. Still asking for this to be a thing please!!
I removed all filters & sorts from my project and I still can’t see the arrow to expand sub-tasks. Any ideas???
A really important feature that should be seen with sort/filters too!!! Please!
Thank you!
Hi @Dawn_Corelli , just make sure your ‘Group by’ button (next to Filter and Sort) is set to ‘Sections’ - perhaps it’s cleared?
I am having the same issue. I do not see any ability to expand SubTasks from List view. I do not think I have any sort or filter invoked, since I do not see an Filter or Sort options at all. I presume that Filter and Sort would come from ‘Search this Project > Add Filter’, which I have never used in this Project.
Any ideas on how I can get the ability to expand SubTasks? Thanks for your help.
Welcome, @Aj_CKMA,
Actually, these are the areas of your project to check (what you were describing is the Advanced search feature):
You’ll want:

Thanks for the tip Larry. For some reason, earlier today, my Asana (macOS app) was not displaying the ‘Filter | Sort | Group by | Hide’. It was only showing the three-dot icon to start a ‘Search this Project’. After seeing your post, I went back and checked and the full Filter options were showing now and I was able to see that I did have a ‘Sort’ in place.
Do know if there are any circumstances that would legitimately hide the Filter options in a Project?
Yes, @Aj_CKMA , if there are no tasks in a project, these buttons will be disabled until the first task is added.
Thanks Richard. My Project had about 15+ Tasks in it. Are there any other circumstances where the Filter options would be hidden?
No, @Aj_CKMA , not that I’m aware of
Got it. Thanks Richard. It’s working now, maybe it was a temporary glitch, maybe it was me.
Is there any way to expand all SubTasks and collapse all SubTasks within a Project? I’ve seen some posts on the topic, but I wasn’t clear on whether that is a current or just a requested feature?
You can do this with a bookmarklet in a browser. See 2.2.2 here:
Thanks,
Larry
@Aj_CKMA , besides @lpb 's great suggestion, you could also try Supersana.io which is a 3rd-party plugin that is jam-packed with features - one of them being able to expand and collapse all subtasks (and sections) by adding addtional buttons in Asana:
Cc @Bryan_TeamKickstart (the creator of Supersana)
@Aj_CKMA , as @Richard_Sather said, our team’s free tool Supersana does this.
Just go to the link Richard posted, click to add the “Free Forever” license, and then enable “Bulk Open/Close”. It’ll ask if you want PRO, but no need. You can use this feature free forever.
Also, after adding it, feel free to ping me if you need help. I do a free 15-min onboarding for all users right now because it’s fairly new.
Thanks for the shoutout, @Richard_Sather.
Thanks for the info and suggestion. I presume this will only work with the web-based Asana and not with the Asana app (macOS)? Is that correct? I currently use the Asana app, but could use both, depending on the situation. I’m not sure if there is a way to add bookmarklets to the Asana app?
Thanks for the suggestion! As with the bookmarklets, is this plugin something that will work with the Asana app? IF so, I wonder if it is something I would need to get corporate approval for to install?
