Global custom fields turned on for a private project are not visible to the task follower who are not added to the project. I would love for individual task followers to be able to see and fill out the custom fields without following the project.
For example, I need our sales team to fill in two fun facts about themselves. I have a private project (we are playing a game so I don’t want them to see each other’s fun facts) with two custom fields for Fun Fact 1 and Fun Fact 2. I have added each person as a follower to their individual task so that they can add their fun facts to each field so I can later export it. However, they can’t see the custom fields because they don’t have access to the project. My workaround is having them comment the fun facts on the task and then I am manually copying and pasting them into the fields (for 58 people).
That’s a tricky one, because most people specifically want the field to be hidden…
The only workaround I see → each person need to have a project with those fields, and the task is multi-homed into their project…
Hi @anon12532764, welcome to the Asana Community Forum and thanks for sharing your feedback with us! As it stands, it’s currently not possible to show custom fields in private projects to external users, if you need them to see the field, you would need to add them to the project or set it as public.
If you want them to provide some information but you don’t want them to see each other answers, I recommend you creating a Form. You can share the Form link and all 58 people can submit their answers via the Form. They will be able to see the custom fields in the Forum, but they won’t be able to see the submissions.
You can also map the answers to specific fields so these are filled out automatically. You can find more information in this article: Create Forms in Asana | Product Guide • Asana Product Guide
I hope this helps!
