Determine stacked bar chart order

Like mentioned here, I’d like to be able to re-arrange the order of stacked bar charts, as it seems random a.t.m.

I am curious if in the future we’ll be able to change the sorting of the different data labels.

In this example the colours (determined by custom field options) indicate a different health/completion state, but now the order seems random.

I’d love to be able to determine the order so I can arrange them bottom up from good (green) to bad (red) and put grey (unknown) on top of that.

I’ve tried changing the order of the custom field options but this had no effect.

Today I encountered the same issue again in creating a dashboard. This is not the way I’d like to present the data to our CEO…

Agreed, also trying to do this today - it makes the stacked bar useless!

It defaults to order by task count (i.e. your unknown has the most and good has the second most) no idea why it does this.

Big +1 on this! Stacked bars can be hard to interpret without sorting control.

Some thoughts on this. Like with the related Determine stacked bar chart order, I care more about being able to determine the order than solving it specifically by linking it to custom field settings.

It was the first thing I investigated though when I didn’t like the chart order, and the solution does make sense. But to me it also makes sense to be able to modify the order from the dashboard widget. Maybe enable editing custom field settings by clicking the legend when editing the dashboard widget?

I’m trying to think whether there is a situation where you’d want to be able to manipulate the custom field value order separate from the chart order. If so, being able to modify these orders separately would be better. At the moment I can’t think of any situation though.

In any case I would default to the order set in the custom field over this seemingly random order we have now.
