The new enhancements to Dashboards are phenomenal! However, because I am often plotting more information than the x-axis will support (even with the ability to filter out empty Sections) the higher count/value data isn’t always shown because the items in the x-axis are listed in the order they are defined within the project. I would love the ability to choose whether to also show these items in ascending or descending order, in addition to their default order.

I still do not see this feature. Is it possible to sort X axis at all?
Hi @anon47355572 , welcome to the forum ![]()
No, unfortunately you cannot sort the X values by ascending/descending. But you can check out this workaround I have previously suggested, which may help in the meantime:

Would love the ability to sort the order of items on the X-axis. When we have a custom field on the X axis with over 200 items sorted alphabetically, it makes it impossible to visualize a descending order of tasks per item that would be useful as a tangible insight.
@Marie seems this idea may need to be merged with this: Add sort function to dashboard charts - #3 by Rashad_Issa
Thanks, @Jillian_Adkins! Since this is the older topic, I’ve just merged the other topic into this one.

Charts with larger volumes of custom fields are difficult to view and regularly cut off , hiding important data or insights from the viewer. You are unable to view the additional fields or sort to view in different orders.
Two examples attached
Column chart - unable to view all columns, add sort function to sort highest to lowest
Pie chart - unable to view all sections, unsure if highlighted are actually most important

It would be quite handy indeed!
I am working on producing reports.
The dashboard feature is really great when the project is built correctly.
My issue is that column charts and lollipop charts cannot be designed by ascending or descending order.
So I end up with a chart that is really sore for the eyes
Can we please get the ability to arrange them as we wish
Hi @Rashad_Issa, I completely agree, this would be helpful! I merged your feature request with the thread above to consolidate the feedback (and voted for it
). Thank you.
has this been fixed?
I’ve sent an e-mail for Asana requesting this feature, and they told me this is current not in their roadmap, and that I should come here to the forum in order to vote for this feature request. But I’m wondering if this is actually taken into consideration since this thread is oppened since Jun 2022…
Hi @Paula_Porto
As you know, not every feature makes it to the road map. so the more we keep upvoting this feature, the likely chance we may have for asana to consider it.
Thanks,
Rashad
Hi everyone,
in our organization, we want to handle more data properly.
Asana gives us a good view on our tasks, but doesn’t provide the same love to detail to the pure numbers in the dashboard.
Therefore, we really want to push this topic forward. Sorting the individual Dashboards is a highly demanded core feature for us and many other companies.
E.g.:
Just to sort by Task quantity or erase all zeros would increase many many dashboards.
Thanks,
Eike
I would very much like to be able to filter the lollipop chart by task count descending. I have also tried to filter the chart for all non-zero task counts but I could not do that. I then added a custom field: lollipop_count but could not filter on that field either. Thanks - armelle.feuvrier@newyork.msf.org
I’d love the ability to sort an x-axis of Projects alphabetically by Project Name. We use this chart to compare to an external system, and that is listed alphabetically.
I would like to have this ability as well!
