Dependencies do not import correctly from CSV files

Include Sections and dependencies to CSV Export

However, if that CSV is then imported into another Asana project- the tasks do not link correctly and instead additional columns are added into the project which simply list the names of tasks that a particular task is dependent on. If a task is selected, the dependencies section of the task information is blank.

Suggestion is that tasks that are linked in a project that is exported to csv and then that csv is imported into another project- the links remain as per the initial project.

Hi @anon89245342 , I feel your pain but I’m sure you can crack this. The issue is that during the CSV import, it is converting your Dependencies fields into a simple text field as is clear from your last screenshot of the task details. First of all, make sure you setup your project with all the custom fields you require BEFORE you import your CSV. Then when you go to Import your CSV, the trick is to make sure you select ‘Make changes’ during the CSV import process (instead of the blue button …

This would be easier if Asana on export used the expected column name for import, so I’ll leave the request here; don’t forget to add your vote at the top.
