Default setting for 'Run on Subtasks' during creation of rules

For >90% of the rules I have created, it would be beneficial for the ‘Run on Subtasks’ default to be set to off. Presently it is defaulted to on and easy to miss for people newly creating rules, which results in unexpected and confusing behaviour.

Could this simple change be introduced or maybe even a toggle at project-level or portfolio-level to determine the default ?

I agree, and in fact it can cause quite a mess, voting!

However, it used to be disabled by default and a few months ago Asana changed it back to enabled. Not sure they are ready to back pedal…

I agree that “Run on Subtasks” should be off by default.

New users in particular tend not to look at the Settings options when they are first tackling rules, and this setting can get them into trouble. We’ve had a situation where a user set up rules in My Tasks, unaware that they would run on subtasks, which caused subtasks to be reassigned to the parent task’s owner, as described in this forum post:

If this setting were off by default, rule behavior would be more intuitive, and the above problem could be avoided.
