Dashboards! Navigating between charts/tasks and back to Dashboard

I consider myself quite well versed in Asana, and feel silly asking, but for the life of me I still cannot work out the best way to do this …

I have an Asana Portfolio with 4-5 projects used for feedback on different artifacts.

There is a Portfolio Dashboard that we review regularly for new feedback, checking in progress/overdue tasks, etc.

When I use the Dashboard to open the chart new tasks/feedback received, then click on each task in the search view that is displayed (there can be 10+ tasks to review), how the devil do I get back to the Dashboard?

If I use the browser home button, it cycles through all the tasks I’ve just viewed before it eventually gets me back to the Dashboard. Not the best use of time in a 30min meeting.

I don’t even get the option to open the chart search results in a new tab.

The only other way is to just go back to the Asana links on the sidebar (but that’s not ideal either as I usually have that collapsed to make the best use of the screen during the meeting) …

If anyone knows, you clever lot will know - Am I missing a really simple trick here?
Or will I have to live with it?

@Tracy_Millar,

To answer your specific question, instead of simply clicking on each of the tasks, Ctrl+Click or Cmd+Click to open them in new tabs so you don’t replace the dashboard tab that you want to return to. You could even open all ten tasks in ten tabs and close them as you finish with each.

But, a more general observation: Your work is at the task/project level; portfolios and dashboards may be taking you further away from your work than you need to be for a streamlined workflow. I’m just speculating, and the Forum is not the best way to critique/design workflows, but I can’t help but wonder if you couldn’t avoid this pogosticking by focusing more at the task/project level, perhaps with the help of multi-homing.

Thanks,

Larry
