Dashboard Visual based on Milestone name

Hi Forum Members,

I have a project Template that contains milestones.

How can I add a metric in the portfolio dashboard that counts number of milestones with common milestone name?

thanks,

Lior

Hi @Lior_Cohen , welcome to the forum :waving_hand:

Just to get this right, you want to count how many duplicate milestones exist in each project? or something else that the milestone have in common?

If so, can you explain why you want to show this in a dashboard? Do you just want to resolve the issue of having duplicate milestones, in the first place?

Hi Richard,

Thanks, My target is to count how many projects completed a certain milestone.

Regards,

Lior

Hi @Lior_Cohen , ok now I understand. In that case you would need to essentially ‘label’ these certain milestones, ideally with a single-select field with one option (or more options if you want to ‘label’ other types of milestones also).

You would need to add this field to the field library and add it to all your projects that contain these milestones. Then find those milestones and set the value on each milestone, with your new field’s option.

Then you will be able to create a chart in a portfolio’s Dashboard or a universal dashboard by leveraging this custom field as ‘filter’ in your chart. Your X axis would be Projects and your Y would count tasks (milestones). You could use a stacked or grouped bar chart to compare the incomplete and completed milestones by setting the Group by option to Completion status.

Thanks Richard, very helpful.
